This page was last updated on Monday, 15 June 2009. Welcome to the only official Brian Eland web site! Alto Turia 2009 our annual trip to Spain again with some very good old friends and some lifelong new friends some great trails to ride I managed to get lost in the middle of a special test and took a extra 30 minutes and the next day managed to break my wrist but honestly this event is one not to be missed another great year. Tarrineg 2009 took the trip down the this event with my WR450F and was pleased with my ride by the official results i got 3rd overall behind Mark Vaughan and Jonathan Williams but with Boundsy only getting 4th overall the result was a nice safe result for the start of the year. UK Rally Championship A new Championship for 2009 We are a main sponsor this championship includes Trail and Sports bikes with Capacity classes included. February 2008 new bike new class change of bike now riding a Yamaha WR450F collected just in time for the new season. Cambrian Rally 2008 with a climax to the 2008 racing season this became a head to head between Boundsy and me with typically WTRA putting on a quality event Boundsy rode as no2 with me as no1 time's where actually very close between both of us over the weekend up to the point the KTM690 blew the engine to bits at 2 1/2 months old and 1100 miles of use. the Bike was returned to the dealer the next day for a refund.... Hafren Rally 2008 well the 690 started to show it's true colours with a failure on the run into the pits turned out a pickup failed on the ignition changed under warranty and so it should have been finished second to Boundsy started modifying the bike heavily to make it competitive maybe I shouldn't have bothered.... Ryedale Rally 2008 good ride for me using the event as a shake down for the 690 and with the bike running well everything was looking good for the rest of the year.... June 2008 KTM 690 they have arrived and has left the building.... Old news Alto Turia 2008 Again we will be providing preparation, transport to and support for the event. we are looking to take a maximum of 9 bikes in total. Heroes Legend 2008 We are providing support for this event for up to 6 bikes. Big Bike Challenge At the first attempt we have won the overall single cylinder championship. Cambrian Rally a 2 day rally based around the Llyn Brianne reservoir cracking venue for a event very fast test. Hafren Rally a no show from myself and did not here much about the event although BMW's did get the the top 3 positions. Ryedale Rally first outing for our 640 Enduro LC4 slight problems with brakes and a incident with a large puddle, wrong line, deep water incompetent pilot. Won the Trail bike class and was fastest overall and got the team award for M&S Motorcycles A well run event in shall we say testing conditions poor Marshals where kept busy all weekend.

Rally May 6th 2007
Alto Turia Rally 29th April 4th May 2007 it's been too long since we've been to this event and so looking forward to a return to a fun event. A New bike into our stable Thank's to M&S motorcycles a KTM 640 LC4 enduro to replace our 250 RFS which has been sold the 640 will be better for the C2CChallenge. Easter 2007 Convincing win in the Red Kite Rally using our KTM 640 AdventureR only had a couple of punctures and a bracket on the subframe decided to snap off leaving the silencer to flap around. with the unusually good weather in Wales at Easter and dust with fast going a near perfect practice for the Alto Turia. Details for Alto Turia Transport, bike hire, mechanic and accommodation available give us a ring and discuss your requirements. The event is the first week of May. Alto@BrianEland.com New web site introduced for the Coast 2 Coast Challenge Here. Rally dates For 2007 most published in the calendar section. a brief list of our planned events Alto, Red Kite, Romaniacs, Cambrian, Hafren, Dyfi, Baja GB and the Erg or the Chott. Hafren Rally December 2006 another good event ran in appalling conditions thanks and congratulations to all the marshals for there time and effort put in to the event I ended up riding a KTM 250 exc racing for a bit of fun and got eighth in the sports bikes. Honda XR250 less than 750Kms on the bike UK bike ridden on road only.
EXC 250 Racing A very clean bike has
arrived in our ownership low mileage 05 bike less than 20 hours use. TT-R Lowering links in stock Kouba lowering links for many bikes are in stock available for most bikes including all Honda's, DR250, DR400, KLX300, GasGas and LC4 KTM's. Baja GB 4th overall and a 3 minute time penalty young Lee Edmundson won the event in the bike competition I personally made a basic mistake to collect a penalty first thing on the Saturday and also had a off on the second test on the Saturday I managed to damage the crash helmet I was wearing enough to warrant throwing away after the event but at least it saved my head. The rest of the event passed without incident but a excellently organised event and a breath of fresh air to the UK bike rally scene and mixing with the 4x4 car scene made for a check with reality those guys are serious and I for one will revaluate my setup at this enjoyable event. Ryedale rally Second overall and only beaten by a CRF450 in the Sports bike class as I rode our 640 AdventureR fun weekend the new format for this event really works although the sun got to me a bit and I was making daft bets with the Irish. GasGas Supermoto and Enduro bikes Available We have several brand new ex-display bikes available from the fourstroke GasGas range supermoto and enduro bikes find the bike for you here. Red Kite Rally Latest New New the Coast 2 Coast Challenge has gone public probably our worst keep secret ever a trip that we have been doing in sections for the last couple of years and we have eventually gone public many hours have been spent planning preparing the route. Tuareg Rally I have entered for 2006 and will be ridding our 525 desert bike. contact us if your interested in travelling with us.
GPS Prices Slashed Dyfi Rally a excellent two day event Baja Deutschland the 3rd running of this event and the first time ever that any British riders had attended the event. I arrived late on on the Thursday evening before the event about a hour before John Lane, Reg and Mo Moule arrived on setting up our base we managed to get a large self contained area with separate parking for the run around vehicle (my trusty Citroen estate car). Friday was filled with signing on medical check up and scrutineering all went without a hitch with typical German organization noise test's where being carried out which I got worried about riding a EXC 400 with a SX silencer fitted I never found out what the bike read on the Decibel meter but I later found out that one of the 660 rally KTM bike's had a reading of 103 Decibel's and still passed the noise test. Friday evening saw the prologue which would decide the start position for Saturday the bike's went into the prologue first which was running very well for the first 10 bikes then a marshal just stood back and let everybody make there own way in whatever order they wanted, if anybody has seen me in a scrum I have been known to hold my own and I managed to get to the front of the queue and had a very respectable start position. the test went well enough and at the briefing which had the results i found out i was forth in the bikes. with the bikes starting after the cars on the Saturday so a bit of a lye in well until a 07:45 start and a ride out of the centre of town back to Belantis park for the first special test and a delay because there was a delay in the cars we have a delay of around 2 hours then eventually into the test no walking the test first or not being timed for the first lap straight into the test and racing this test called Zwenkau was very fast it started on a old railway line and followed it for approximately 2 miles the course then dropped into the quarry we had just ridden around we basically then just followed the quarry roads/dirt tracks around the quarry. if the event is going to be like the poor 400 I was riding was going to be in for some serious stick out of this test and road work to a test that they called Profen again there was a short delay as the last of the cars where still in the test but we did get sent out and the last couple of trucks/cars where warned that the bike's where on the course and would be passing them the start of this test followed a gravel road which keep turning 90 degrees between small farm fields I managed to run off the track at a 90 degree right hander and had to jump a 6 foot wide ditch just messed up the braking for the corner Ryedale Rally Yorkshire typical of our organizing we had arranged to meet up in the start field the night before the rally but didn't make it until 01-00 in the morning my excuse was the forks on the bike where being serviced but still at least we made it and managed to have a couple of drinks with a few friends. the event went without many hitches a new pair of boots creating a bit of discomfort on the first lap a non existent grading system ment I had a struggle with slower riders ahead I solved this by riding out of order. in the process of riding at the front of the field hit a lamb causing a heart stopping moment where I thought I was going down the road. typical of my luck at recent event I managed to yet again get a puncture front puncture for a change there was plenty of time on the course to change the tube the culprit was a tube nipped under the tire clamp. results went as expected with a good win for our first run out on our new rally bike a KTM 400 EXC Northern Classic Trial never again am I going to recommend to a ex-trials riders converted to trail riding that they would enjoy this long distance trial cause Dave actually had the cheek to go out and beat me (he mustn't have read the script). rode this event again and again had a really good day out. I took the DR 250 Dejebel and although I started the day with 12 marks lost in the first section (a section that I later cleaned) I still managed to scrape together a 6th in the bike's overall and a 3rd in class. El Chott Rally Nov 2003 Started in Genoa to get the ferry to Tunisia with the help of Cynthia Milton, Reg Moule and Team Brew Up on this my second event in the desert I had mixed fortunes this time the El Chott is a German organized event and language proved to be a problem a couple of times my Touratech IMO trip meter had gotten some water into the workings even before the event started I ended up riding the whole event using my Garmin G.P.S. as a trip meter not a ideal situation but needs must. Alto Turia Rally 2003 ran in the Turia area of Spain 6 Day rally event with days of 350 Klms of Liaison and Special Tests of up to 30 Klms each day I ran my KTM 640 EGS-E in rally bike trim with a Tour-a-Tech roadbook and a I.C.O. trip meter. I drove to the event with everything loaded into to the back of the car and the bike loaded onto the bike rack on the back of the car travelling by myself I can confirm Spain is a long way then at 2 O'clock in the morning as I crossed into Spain I had the pleasure of being introduced to the Spanish method of breath testing. the Spanish police did like the satellite navigation linked to a moving map on the laptop but where not impressed with a bike perched on the rear of the car with no auxiliary lights or number plate showing from the rear of the car there was a few minutes of a bit of a stand off with police pulling there hair out wanting to tell me off and me understanding less and less Spanish but I was beginning to see a fine about to be produced when a car came down the road traveling very fast and was obviously struggling to stop in time for the police presence on the road the police suddenly lost interest with me and told me to carry on my way. The event had a unfortunate accident which cost a good friend Patrick James his life he was a good friend to us here and will be sadly missed. the rest of the event carried on and the end result being Tara O'Callaghan winning our own Brian Eland in second and third was Steve Hague this all made wining the team award a bit of a forgone conclusion as these three riders where part of the same team "Team Austin Rover" the whole week had many stories from riders but some of the most embarrassing happened on the presentation evening GPS's with downloadable Map's for under £200 we have taken delivery of 20 Magellan 330 and 330M (Marine) GPS's these are of the latest generation unit's with downloadable maps from Magellan Mapsource CD go to the GPS Page for Details Latest GPS's to arrive with us are these Magellan Blazer 12 runs for 20 hours on 2 AA batteries backlit stores 100 waypoints very easy to use and at under £90 probably the cheapest GPS we can sell. check them out here. Front page of the Cumberland and Westmorland herald Saturday 18th January 2003 a article about the epic journey of three guys a bike a sidecar and a keg of beer all for charity. Page 3 Star the Newcastle Evening Chronicle Friday 24th January 2003 the local evening paper for the north east ran a page 3 article about a pair local of lads who carried a keg of ale from Tirrel Brewery in Cumbria to Beamish Mary Inn at No Place in Co Durham via the old lead mining routes. I was involved in leading them in the whole journey and getting them out of the ditch's and even having to ride the outfit for some of the journey but they eventually made it. with the beer barrel intact. Motorcycle Voyager have got a 6 page article about trail riding with us in there issue 2 2003 of the magazine some great photo's and the descriptions in the editorial paint a very vivid and accurate picture of a day out trail riding. Latest trail bikes to be imported into the UK while other importers are closing shop and/or not bringing bikes into the country we have just took collection of 6 bikes straight off the container these bikes are all very nice examples and with our personal promise of satisfaction and a warranty on all bikes sold these bikes look like they will sell like hot cakes. Winter Rally results 2nd version is out first outing on the KTM 640 EGS-E felt really good to get out and race the bike a bit of a miscalculation on the Saturday meant I didn't quite have enough fuel for the first lap. after collecting fuel off a few mate's thank Barry and Stu I filled up to the brim on the Saturday night and never had a problem with the bike on the Sunday. the event was timed over 3 tests I won the event with a overall time 47 seconds faster than second place although no other grade 1 riders had entered the event it still bodes well for later in the year when all the grade 1 riders meet in a few events. Kielder Rally web site has been launched and with this being a local event to me I will be promoting sponsoring and helping to organize this event with a Two day event and at least 100 miles a day planned and road book's to be read during the event to find your way around the course we are hoping this will be a event to look forward to and will be a regular event in the calendar. Added more tuning parts for the TT-R 250/325 there are a lot of parts available and most can be supplied direct from stock. K.T.M. LC4 wheel sets for sale. due to a good deal struck up with a local K.T.M. dealer we have two sets of wheels to fit LC4 bikes with the cush drive these wheels have no discs the cush drive is not included but with DID rims with tyres on and are brand new and to be honest are a bit of a steal at £450-00 discs bolts and anything else can be arranged anybody campaigning a LC4 bike in rallies these wheels are a bit of a must. Planning is well ahead for the Amateur Rallye Championship entry in 2003 and although there have been some problems entering the German Trail Rallye entry shall be sorted in early 2003 and then entry for the Tuareg Rallye must be sorted in the first week of 2003. the German Trail Rallye is on at Easter and so clashes with the Cambrian Rally so we have not bothered entering this excellent event for 2003 but the hopes of doing well in the Rallye Championship has a greater appeal. We have Purchased a KTM 640 LC4 to be used as a rally bike for the 2003 season a tidy 2001 version with lots of extras including a 18 litre fuel tank which could be useful in the continental rallies. Rally Rider web site has been launched we are closely linked and will be helping with the testing and training for 2003 Information is starting to come through about a Amateur Rally Championship for 2003 which is to include the Tuareg Rally the German Trail Rally and the El Chott rally discussions are going ahead at the moment as to whether a British team are going to contest this new championship. check out the calendar for dates of these events. Pyrenees Trail riding with the excuse of delivering a bike to Spain a few of us took the chance to take a short holiday trail riding in Spain check here for a no hole's bared blow by blow account. you will not believe it I didn't and I was there. D2D - 12 hour enduro Brian Eland, Wyn Hughes & Richard Hay were amongst 200 riders waiting for the rising sun to cross the start line of the inaugural Dawn to Dust 12 hour enduro held at Glyneath on Sunday. Simon Pavey & his team had made a tremendous effort to organize this new event in a short time. The 17 mile course was laid out around a 2000 acre, fir planted, reclaimed slag heap. The start area was on 2 plateaux both a quarter of a mile square. On the higher level was the campsite with a 40' marquee & on the lower was the start/finish with a fenced parc ferme, pits & a short MX circuit with a man made jump. Scrutineering was on the Saturday followed by 3 sighting laps before the bikes were locked away. Local lads had taken time out of their busy schedule to turn some arrows around which gave some riders the sight of oncoming bikes & lots to talk about in the bar on Saturday night. The weather on Sunday was warm & dry & as the full moon gave way to a lightening sky the riders gathered at the parc ferme to collect their machines. The Le Mans start was delayed slightly for ambulance cover to arrive but by 7.30 the experts were lining up. Brian Eland off his bike is no Linford Christie but when the tape dropped he was elbowing his way to his machine with the best of them to get a clear run. Each class left at one minute intervals & the whole field got away cleanly. From the start the riders disappeared into the forest & their progress was marked by the plumes of dust that rose & hung in the air above the trees. The riders could opt to compete individually or as part of a team with up to 4 members. The 2 man team of Jonty & Gareth Edmunds won the overall with 24 laps. Richard Hay on a Husqvarna was 2nd & won the Iron Man award with an incredible 400+ continuous miles. Wyn Hughes & Chris Hockey were 3rd. Glen Howard was solo runner-up with 20 laps - only 6 minutes ahead of Andy Scudamore. Patsy Quick & Donna Gray's Quick Chicks team were 15th with 20 laps. Caerphilly MC member Neal Avery clocked up 14 stylish laps in the solo clubman class. Borrowed from Enduro.freeserve.co.uk We Have done it we put a TT-R on top of the results of a rally albeit a 325cc version but we won the Dyfi Rally 2002 by a large margin the test's where made for the faster riders who where prepared to take a few chances but with a 90 second lead after the first day the second day was a walk in the park with a very strange time for test 3 on the second day of at least 90 seconds too slow but it did not even threaten to alter the results many thanks to Craig for taking his big van down as everybody at the event commented. "Brian that van is far to posh you must have borrowed it from somebody." while Trail riding my rally TT-R 250 snapped a cam chain so has given me a excuse to fit the 325cc kit and gas flow the head ready for the Welsh 2 Day which I have had conformation of entry into Alto Turia happened in April with a large group of riders from the UK the whole event started on a sad note with Don Beane (62) died at the event Don was a character at the events and had been around bikes all of his live he will be greatly missed our thoughts go out to his family and friends. the rest of the event carried on and the British contingent found the going to be very technical with massive penalties for anybody making a mistake in a test if you had any off in a test it was going to hurt big time. the rumour factory has been going at full tilt and from what I heard Caerphily greatest desert racer turned up late to a test on the 2nd full day, so late the test had closed and he was refused to ride the test along with his riding buddy but of course this may only be a rumour. then the next day Tuesday Yoshi went out with what has been described as a massive accident in a test the resulting damage was a broken ankle and a very 2nd hand bike. later in the week Philip (gunner) Gunn suffered almost the same indignity the hard charging Irishman part of a very strong Irish contingent had a very large fall on the Wednesday the 2nd last day so gunner did the sensible thing and sat out the last day probably licking a few bruises but he will probably will be credited with a finish. Congratulations to all those who took part managed to keep the British end up and to all those who finished and most of all congrates to Colin Sweetman (Baby Colin) who finished the event on a TT-R 250 prepared by ourselves. I'd better mention this sorry to here about the accident boys hope all the breaks cuts bruises and the twisted ankle all heal up soon and I can't wait to catch up with you all when you get back. The 9th Cambrian Rally was ran at its traditional date of Easter Sunday and what a fantastic weekend we had we arrived late on the Friday after some trailer problems on the way down nothing to worry about but just meant we nearly missed last orders and then put the tents up in the camp site in the pitch black. Saturday arrived and the weather was gorgeous and with a trail ride arranged we where going to make the most of it a run to the local Yamaha dealer first on the road as a bolt had disappeared from the front calliper then the start of the off road we made the most of the Gap being open with events and trail riding happening at a continuous rate it seems that I've never been off a bike lately the year started off with the winter rally we had been doing some practice with the TT-R 250 and things looked well for the event with a half decent entry and a two day format apart from the near endless rain the event went well I had a off in one of the timed tests on the Saturday just on a slow corner front started to go and I couldn't get my foot down fast enough cost me 10-15 seconds. I also had a moment on the un-timed lap with a marshal riding a bike in the middle of the road going the opposite way on the course. on the 2nd day Sunday I changed carburettor in a effort to get more top end speed down the straights I felt I was lacking on some of the longer straights New delivery of bike's Just taken delivery of a 95 DR 250 nice bike with a kick start fitted Photo's Here also a TT-R 250 which has to be rally prepared and delivered for a customer for use in the UK and European rallies for the forthcoming year new date for the 12 hour Ice enduro challenge added to be run in Czechoslovakia they also run a Enduro rally which may be of interest to ride which as far as I can tell is held in October. Congratulations this Web page has burst through 10,000 hits with the counter not running for a full year. so on 17/12/01 we past the 10,000 lets see how long it takes to do the 20K !! Date change in our calendar for the Winter rally due to a operator error!!!! we had the wrong date. 280 Kits available for TT-R basically a performance piston. All restrictions around the country due to F&M lifted around the country only problem area's are small pockets of Blue Box area's. Dates for 2002 Rally events rally schools trail rides and anything else of interest. Recently ran Rally school photo's here. Trail bike trip to the Artic Circle 9 day "holiday" taking in the sites of Norway, Sweden and Finland. Hafren rally results posted here. We have just been announced as one of the only motorcycle dealers in the UK to distribute Garmin E-Trex G.P.S. units including cables and survival equipment. Results from the Dyfi Rally in Wales has been released second overall in the trail bikes to Andy Winterbourne and fifth overall in the results I will try and reproduce a electronic form of the results for the web site. The Transdunabia is over for this year to a slightly poor finish as a total electrical failure meant dropping out of the event at the end of the second day the problem being a regulator/regulator failure but we learnt that this can be a problem and I carry a regulator for any similar problems in the future the good points to come from the event where this events are brilliant fun and manageable by the average rider on a small budget. the TT-R is competitive with small modifications we put the bike in third place and finished second fastest overall on a two lap mini motocross the only rider to be faster was Jurgen Meyer a factory KTM rider on a 640 LC4 trail bike. more power is needed from the TT-R motor. I am planning to fit larger carb and Cams then the possibility of over boring the engine. My Congratulations go out to Yoshi Adams who won the event outright and who said miracles could not happen! Preparations for the Transdunabia are well in hand the bike that is going to be ridden is a mildly modified TT-R 250 M a Y2K bike which has had little use. To follow the preparation click here. BogBusters is no more I have no answers to the cause of the shutdown of the business it was as much of a surprise to me as it was to our loyal customers. we have a solution there will be no change to the running of the business www.BrianEland.com will carry on where BogBusters left off with off-road days, trail ride days, rally instruction, bike preparation, bikes and parts supplied. we are here to provide the same or better service that people have come to expect. www.BrianEland.com will be riding in the UK including all the UK rallies, that it is possible to ride. we will be missing from the Diamond Raiders rally due to riding the Transdunabia Rally into Hungary but we have got entries in for the Clare navigation rally unless the Dyfi which is planned for the same weekend does run on that date we can't ride both and decisions will have to be made. Because of the lack of Trail riding and Rallies in the UK I have decided to enter the Transdunabia rally a event which starts in Munich and finishes in Hungary on the great Hungarian Plains. I will be entering as part of a British team which will include Darren Duesbury KTM 520 Tom Beckett Suzuki DR 400 Yoshi Adams C.C.M. 604 and Brian Eland Yamaha TT-R 250 all the riders are capable riders in there own right and should make a very strong team. Trail riding has been opened up but the T.R.F. have put some very strict rules on trail riding in the UK. most of which is contrary to the advice given out by the government sources! Rumours are about that the A.C.U. are not going to let off-road motorcycle events run until the new year that's 2002! Trail riding is open as there has been no prove of third persons walkers mountain bikers or trail riders passing on any F&M precautions are still in place with no riding close to a infected area and people are requested not to have close contact with any animals. Trails are being opened in the UK as Foot and Mouth is on the decrease but still no trail riding as there is a danger of spreading a outbreak. private tracks are open and are being used I am at the moment using a track in Sunderland and in Leek there is still no news on events this year but I am planning to go to the Transdunabia ride check out the calendar for the latest news.
